Now if you are already in the treatment process or are thinking about getting treatment here are a few basic things you can consider to assist your body throughout the process.

  • Movement and exercise
  • Sleep
  • Water
  • Nutrition
  • Stress Management

Movement and Exercise:
Movement is the key to life, without movement at the cellular or gross movement pattern level we would not be alive, so it is important that we are moving on a regular basis. Movement can range from time in the gym lifting weights to walking and or running. The movement kind and intensity is not as important to the health of the body as it is to simply get out and move, Going for a walk or moving you arms and legs in full ranges of motion is important to maintain the full ranges of motion that the arms and legs have. They always say if you don’t use it you lose it and that is true of ranges of motion. Sitting at a desk all day and not reaching your hands above your head or fully extending your legs and stride will limit its ability to do and essnetially run into problems with movement.

Sleep:
Making sure you’re getting ample sleep is extremely important for your health and optimal function. We are not going to get into details in this blog, but as you know you should be aiming to get a full nights sleep. Ideally in a cool dark room.

Hydration:
Benign hydrated is important to make sure the body has enough fluid to flush out any waste products, have enough blood volume to maintain the system, and hydrate general cellular components. There are many formula for calculating proper water intake, generally speaking I was taught in University that 32ml of water per kilo of body weight is a good place to start.

Nutrition:
Giving your body good healthy whole nutritious food is extremely important for the healing process as this is what provides the fuel and building blocks for your body to heal itself and lay down healthy tissue.

Stress Management:
Managing stress in life is key to keeping yourself healthy and maintaining a good healing environment for your body to get results fastest. This means reflecting and evaluating the things that cause stress. We know you can’t stop working, but you can work on your mentality while at work. If you can’t break the habits and the sources of stress then its focusing on things that de-stress you or make you happy like going for a walk, reading a book, stretching, exercising etc.
