Time and time again we receive phone calls and emails asking what Osteopathy is and how it can help.

If you’ve made it to the blog on the website you’re already curious, please check out our first blog talking about what Osteopathy is and who it can help.

In this post we’re going to talk about how it works, and the focuses we have while working with patients.

Osteopathy is built and based on improving the bodies overall health and functioning. The body has self healing and self regulating mechanisms, it wants to and strives to be as healthy as it can be at any given time. Our focus is to promote that environment, improve movement patterns, breathing, digestion, circulation and help bring the body back to a space that it can take care of itself.

We’re looking to assist the body in helping itself, which leads to long term results for patients.

Treatment may have a multitude of modalities used, but the focus is on a deep understanding of anatomy and physiology and using this to create strains or forces within the body to make changes. Treating the fascial, muscular, joint, visceral, craniosacral and energy fields as a single unit. We know that none of these systems can function without the other, and treatment needs to consider all of these components.
